It consists of a bigger right lobe and a smaller left lobe, weighing about 3 lbs. It is a vital organ for the body’s metabolism that plays a major role in filtering the blood coming from digestive tract before it is supplied to the rest of the body. Other main functions are glycogen storage, bile production, plasma protein synthesis, hormone production, and drug and chemical detoxification.
